I didn’t realize that I had Github contribution issues until the recent Hack Reactor group project. The situation is like the picture below: I had several commits push to Github, but Github didn’t recognize my account. The result is that I am not in the list of the group project contributors.
First I thought the issue came from the SSH key setup. You can find out how to set up SSH key here. However, after I regenerated my SSH key, the issue was not solved.
Then I thought that maybe the issue stemed from my laptop’s git configuration. If you are not familiar with setting up Git, Github also has a good documentation here. After I changed my user.name to my Github handle and double checked my user.email to my Github default email, the problem was solved!
git config --global user.name "Your Github handle"
git config --global user.email "YOUR Github EMAIL ADDRESS"
Hooray! Finally my contributions show up properly.
